We are excited to announce that Mukuti Stud Alpacas will be an exhibitor at the 2024 Cape Town Yarn Festival!
MUKUTI Stud Alpacas is a sustainable, South African alpaca herd, located in the Western Cape. Since 2003, when the first alpacas were acquired from Australia, we maintained a holistic approach in the husbandry of these South American camelids; the breeding of strong, healthy, SA adapted alpacas is our main goal.
Verena: Having been a spinner and weaver for over 40 years, progressing to breed our own fiber was a step to fulfill our dream of farming as well as working with one of the most exquisite fibers available
Our yarns and products are created from our own herd’s finest fiber; raw and cleaned fiber is for sale to those crafters who want to do the hands on process of cleaning, carding and washing. Finest, washed and cleaned rovings are available for spinners and felting fundis. Our main yarn sales go to discerning knitters and garment crafters, who appreciate the soft, hand spun quality.
The alpaca fiber colours come in a variety from black, grey, brown in various shades, fawn in shades from gold to cream as well as natural white.
We promote the sales of alpacas for breeders as well as new / established buyers with the vision of the animal health as our priority.
