After a successful National Alpaca Day in April 2017 I was approached by two ladies who wanted to know if they could come and weave their very own scarves – with pure alpaca yarns, obviously.
Over three weekend-afternoons they were able to create their very own garments – from choosing ‘their’ yarns, measuring yarn lengths, winding a warp (that’s the part onto which one weaves the horizontal ‘strings’ to make a cloth) right to the finished fringes.
The Studio was buzzing with laughter, alternated with quiet spells of concentration …. Both have never woven before and I have to admit, I am mighty proud how Raquel Tetley and Margot-Liza Ware accomplished their task.
The end results are stunning – may they enjoy wearing these lovely, pure alpaca yarn scarves. It was indeed a privilege to be part of their weaving adventure.
