Vicuna Alpacas, Mukuti Stud and Chi Chi Alpacas
are proudly hosting the
National Alpaca Day on 30 April 2017
at High Riding Estate in Somerset West.

It promises to be an exciting family day with an opportunity to see Alpacas and their little ones play and interact with visitors to the Estate.
Alpacas and their babies called Cria will roam freely in the two camps, with some of them on halters.
Visitors will be able to feed the Alpacas carrots, listen to informative talks and watch video clips on these gentle, but shy creatures.
Items made from Alpaca wool will be on display and may be bought.
Entrance is R10 per person, payable at the venue.
Refreshments will be on sale; free secure parking.

Brief review on the Alpaca Day:
Although the Cape weather forecast promised rain and icy cold wind, visitors were not deterred.
160+ people came through the gates during the day – most made a bee-line past our garment and products stands, eager to visit these lovely and ‘strange’ furry animals.
Many visitors had never seen alpacas before. Janina and Robert were full time busy explaining, answering questions and managing the people and the herd

Meanwhile Ronelle kept the bowls for the alpacas topped up with apple and carrot pieces for the children to feed the furry ‘pacas.

The very efficient welcoming team, Nikita and Alexander, did a great job selling the tickets and directing people to paddocks and the coffee and refreshment stand.

The weather held until about 3:00, when all the sluices of heaven opened and a deluge of rain had the last visitors and us run for shelter.

We would like to thank all helpers and our hosts and especially all visitors for the wonderful time we had. Many have asked if we will have another ‘Alpaca Open Day’ next year – if all goes well, YES, we are looking forward to welcome you all
